Tattoo Aftercare
How should I care for my new tattoo?
Your new tattoo is part of your skin. If you don't take proper care of it during the healing process, issues like infection or color loss can occur. Conversely, good care can ensure your tattoo looks great for years.
After getting your tattoo, treat it like an open wound:
Clean your hands thoroughly.
Remove the protective plastic covering the tattoo.
Gently clean the area with mild soap and water, rinse well with plenty of water, and dry gently with paper towels.
Apply a thin layer of tattoo cream.
Repeat this process 3 to 4 times a day, depending on the tattoo's location and your skin type. This will promote healing and help prevent infections.
The healing process generally lasts between 3 and 4 weeks. During this time, continue to care for your tattoo and protect it from sun exposure, soaking, saunas, tanning beds, and intense physical activities.
